Over 14 years, we have made fans of audiences and critics alike, and Chestnuts is now a must-see staple in many a theatre-goer’s calendar.
The comic genius of creator (writer & actor) Jonathan Lim, set to the incomparably chameleonic music of Bang Wenfu, and performed by a team of wildly versatile actors – over the years, this combination has won faithful public audiences of all ages. Even the celebrities we spoof become our fans! And the fans can’t wait for more.
In August 2010, Chestnuts went 3D (oh yeah oh yeah ohyeah) with CHESTNUTS 3D : A Nightmare on GLEE Street. A new performer joined the Chestnuts ranks – Dwayne Lau, one of the Broadway4Suakus team and who’d previously appeared as Joseph to Jon’s Mary in 09’s Xmas edition! This show introduced Pondan News Asia’s IT segment and Ris Low’s even more unpredictable sister – Ivory Low Ai Kiu! Hit spoofs this year were Inception, Ip Man, Fried Rice Paradise, Glee and a lot of Gaga!
In recent years, Chestnuts is thrilled to have garnered several LIFE! Theatre Awards acting nominations : Rodney Oliveiro (Best Supporting Actor : Dark Knuts), Judee Tan (Best Supporting Actor: Chestnuts Does Christmas, Chestnuts 3D) and Jonathan Lim (Best Actor: Chestnuts Does Christmas, Chestnuts 3D)
